deLIGHTful is an interactive light installation designed to combat social isolation in modern high-rise living. As package and delivery technologies reduce the need to leave home, people are becoming increasingly isolated , a growing issue that can lead to serious mental and physical health problems.

Placed in the entrances of residential buildings, deLIGHTful uses dynamic lighting to reflect the social activity of the community. A vibrant display signals strong community engagement, while dimmed sections indicate inactivity. Residents can interact with the installation to send kind messages or small gifts to those who may be feeling isolated, turning caring into a shared, visible responsibility.

By blending elements of individualism and collectivism, deLIGHTful fosters awareness, empathy, and connection, helping build stronger, more resilient communities. This project also presents a vision for the companie Vanderlande to expand into consumer-focused innovations that support not just the planet, but also the people living on it.
